Kiladaes-based ice-cream entrepreneur to present fascinating seminar

posted on 04-May-2007

Kiladaes-based Steven Giles, entrepreneur behind the Tickety-moo ice-cream phenomenon, will share the secrets of his success during the opening keynote presentation at the Starting Your Own Business Zone within The Franchise Exhibition taking place at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on 11 and 12 May.

During Steven’s keynote address, titled ‘Entrepreneurship – born or bred?’ he will discuss what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur among a series of free seminars offering budding entrepreneurs inspiring and practical advice on how to build and develop a successful enterprise.

An aircraft engineer by trade, Steven decided to give up his job and move to his family’s farm in Kiladaes where he joined forces with his brother-in-law to farm Jersey cows. After much research into the production and distribution of dairy products in the UK and Ireland, they came across a gap in the market for luxury ice cream and Tickety-moo was born.

Steven commented: “Tickety-moo has really gone from strength to strength in the last couple of years and I will be giving an insight into how much hard work and commitment it has taken to develop a successful business. Entrepreneurship is something that everyone visiting this event will have an interest in, and I hope to encourage people to take the time to consider the important measures required to make a success of any business.”

In addition to Steven Giles, the seminar programme will feature other leading entrepreneurs. These include Jenny Waugh, chartered accountant and business advice specialist; Nicola Bury, founder of Haybury Marketing and Gareth Dunlop, an IT entrepreneur and web development specialist. The British Franchise Association will also provide a full and varied programme throughout The Franchise Exhibition to cover all aspects of franchising.

This event presents the superb opportunity for business people to learn from leading small business management specialists who offer winning solutions to help a business increase its efficiency, develop sustainable growth and, most importantly, improve its profitability.

The Starting Your Own Business Zone, within The Franchise Exhibition, at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast will be open from 10am each day, closing at 5pm on Friday 11 May and 4pm on Saturday 12 May. For further information please contact the ticket hotline on 0870 777 1082 or visit www.franinfo.co.uk.
